I’d like to take a minute to offer both a heartfelt thanks, and curse to a friend of mine. As a Christmas present, he presented me with a copy of EverQuest II. This is a game that my friends of mine had lovingly chided him about being addicted to when the original game was introduced.

After 7 days of playing, pretty much all night after work and all day on the weekends, I can honestly say that I’m completely hooked (I’m even currently 3 levels above my friend). In my opinion, it’s very much a playable version of Dungeons and Dragons where you don’t have to spend weeks learning, remembering, and arguing about all the rules.

I know there are freebie games which try to emulate it, but this is just damned cool.
