PG-13 means keep the damned kids at home people…

theater 300x225 PG 13 means keep the damned kids at home people...Went to see the Fantastic Four movie at the Hollywood Theater here in Huntsville Alabama last Tuesday, but forgot to post about it. Basically I forgot to post a review, not because it wasn’t a good movie (it was a decent superhero flick, akin to Batman/etc but more on the level of Daredevil).

I liked the movie, and I’m going to have to go see it again. The reason I will need this chance is stupid parents and their stupid kids…

So, let me set the scene for you. I arrive on a Tuesday night for the 7pm show. I go on Tuesday nights, because I get free popcorn due to the fact that I belong to the theater’s little “rewards” club. Anyway, I get there at 6:20, because I’m bored. I go in and sit down at 6:45 pm, there is no one else in the theater. No one. F*cking tumbleweed town. I’m thinking “GREAT!”. I’m sitting there, munching on some good corn, drinkin my Dew, and having a cool time with the obligatory trivia.

6:58 pm, I shit you not, four parents, with about two dozen pre 8-year-olds comes shuffling in with an accompanying ruckus. Out of the entire theater, they sit on each side of me, filling up the rows all around me, above and below (and no where else) effectively sealing me in for the night.

For the next two hours, I’m subjected to whining, crying, and children making truly dumbass and loud comments throughout the movie like “is that the bad guy?” and “he’s doctor doom!”…. Not only were the children yapping, but the goddamned parents were sitting there talking and laughing with the kids just like they were at home…

F*cking amazing. 12 bucks wasted on a movie and drink (remember, the popcorn is free at this point) and I really felt Hulk-level mad. Pissed off extreme.

Anyway, I want to go back, I really do and see it the way it’s supposed to be seen because I’m sure between the green haze, I probably missed something.

Now, let me back up and say straight up that I like children under normal circumstances. I have a couple of nieces that age that I’d pretty much die for. That being said, for Feck’s sake people… Bringing children that age to a PG-13 movie on a school night is about the most rude and ignorant thing I’ve ever seen.

Keep your loud-assed brats at home until you can install their volume controls or at a mimimum, train them to respect others. You made them, you deal with them. It’s not my fault you can’t keep it in your pants and ended up with about two dozen mistakes between you.

The ratings system exists for a reason. The big screen isn’t a babysitter and you owe me (and the other 3 adults who came in at 7:03) $12 bucks each for ruining not only our night but a perfectly good movie.

  1. LOL! Yeah the f*n kids do tend completely ruin the whole cinema experience. I tend to watch movies at the City now, since most parents are too tight to spend the extra couple of bucks and watch it there.
