  • 8 slices white bread, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 pound bulk pork sausage, cooked and crumbled
  • 1 1/2 cups grated cheddar cheese
  • 10 large eggs
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 2 teaspoons dry mustard
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper to taste

What you do with it

Preheat oven to 350 degrees (175 Celsius)

Butter a 9 x 13 x 2-inch glass baking dish. Place bread in prepared dish. Top with cooked sausage and cheese.

Beat together eggs with remaining ingredients. Pour over sausage mixture.

Bake casserole until puffed and center is set, about 50 minutes. Cut into squares and serve hot.

Serves 8 to 10.

Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich

Ingredients

  • 4 ounces of cheese whiz, warmed
  • 3 ounces of sirloin or top round very thinly sliced
  • 3 medium button mushrooms, sliced and sauteed
  • 1/4 small white onion, diced and sauteed until caramelized
  • One soft 6 inch hero roll
  • Salt and pepper to taste

What you do with it

On griddle or large frying pan, cook steak over medium high heat about 5 minutes, seasoning with salt and pepper to taste. Slice the hero roll down the middle and slather half of the Cheese Whiz on each side of the INSIDE of the bread. Place the cooked steak into the cheese slathered hero and top with the mushrooms and onion

Baked Potato Soup

Ingredients:

  • 2/3 cup butter
  • 2/3 cup flour
  • 7 cups milk
  • 4 large baking potatoes, baked, cooled, peeled and cubed, about 4 cups
  • 4 green onions, thinly sliced
  • 10 to 12 strips bacon, cooked, drained, and crumbled
  • 1 1/4 cups shredded mild cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup (8 ounces) sour cream
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper

Preparation:

In a large Dutch oven or stockpot over low heat, melt butter. Stir in flour; stir until smooth and bubbly. Gradually add milk, stirring constantly, until sauce has thickened. Add potatoes and onions. Continue to cook, stirring constantly, until soup begins to bubble. Reduce heat; simmer gently for 10 minutes. Add remaining ingredients; stir until cheese is melted. Serve baked potato soup immediately.
